Mission Statement
The mission of the Simmons Fund for Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis is to increase the funds available for research into the cause and cure of the lung disease known as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
Our efforts will be directed towards individual, corporate, and fund giving.
The Simmons Fund exists to fund research that will result in a cure for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
Simmons Fund Goals
- Encourage accredited medical and/or research personnel at the University of Pittsburgh to research the disease idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, called cryptogenic fibrosing alveolitis in Europe. All aspects of the disease will be open for funding consideration with particular interest in uncovering basic mechanisms in the pathogenesis of the disease.
- Increase the number of investigators studying IPF.
- Increase knowledge of the cause and cure of IPF.
- Encourage the establishment of IPF research collaborations with other research institutions.
